Introducing the Pedals...

Nature

The Converge is designed to be a fast and agile, yet planted and forgiving adventure machine. Equally at home on day sprints and post-work missions as it is on your next multi-day adventure.

The basis of the bike is its long front centre, meaning more frame and less stem! No toe overlap, ability to use a mid-foot cleat position and more downhill stability.

We have kept the head angle nice and sharp though, for that fast and engaging gravel feel.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q – What size frame do you recommend for me?

A – If you aren’t sure, get in touch and we can chat you through it or hopefully hook you up with a demo ride if you can make it to our base in Edinburgh. As a rough guide, the medium Converge is good for 5 foot 6 to 5 11 (167cm to 180cm) and the Large is good for people 5 foot 10 to 6 2 (178 to 188cm). There will be a decent bit of overlap and some folk outside this range will fit as well.

Q – Do you do any other sizes?

A – We designed the Converge to fit a wide range of people, however for now there are only two sizes. If you need one bigger or smaller get in touch, with enough interest we can make it happen.

Q - Can I run suspension forks on the Converge?

A – We think you should keep within 410mm axle to crown, and current gravel suspension forks are larger than that. However, the Converge is tested to the same standard as our Downshift mountain bike frame, so if you don’t mind pushing the bottom bracket a bit higher you can use gravel specific suspension fork if you wish. We would recommend the Cane Creek Invert SL, which is just a 425mm axle to crown. This will make the bike around a degree slacker in HA/SA and roughly 5-10mm higher BB. If this is something you want to do, we can do it as an upgrade before it leaves us, so you aren’t paying for the unused carbon forks.

Q – What headset can I put in my Converge?

A – It’s a 42/52 integrated head tube (that’s the one where bearings just rest in the frame), a really popular headset standard. Often gets called 42/52IS. The supplied fork uses a standard 1.5”/40mm crown race. In Hope headsets, you would be using an ‘8’ top and a ‘J’ bottom. In Cane Creek, the Hellbender 70 level is BAA1189K.

Q – What bottom bracket can I put in my Converge?

A – It has an 86mm wide T47 threaded shell. Then it just depends what cranks you want to run, for 24mm axle chainsets (Shimano, cheaper/older Raceface etc) then we recommend the Hope BBT478624SSN. Catchy name – That’s a Hope T47, for 86/89.5/92 shells, 24mm axles. For 30mm axles (Raceface, Hope etc) you want the Hope BBT478630SSN. That’s the same thing but for 30mm axles. It does also come with reducers for DUB/29mm chainsets, but due to the extra interface on the reducers these can need a bit of extra looking after. For a fit and forget solution with DUB/29mm cranks we recommend the Cane Creek Hellbender 70 BAI0230, where the bearings sit directly on the cranks.

Q – Can I run a double chainset in the Converge?

A – There are no cable provisions on the frame, however we are keen to test fit a 2x AXS/Etap setup on the frame to check clearances. At the time of writing we haven’t as we all run 1x. Going from the drawings clearance should be OK, but the proof is in the setup. So in short, officially the frame is 1x only.

Q – I’m a bit worried about routing the cables and hoses through the BB shell, won’t that be a total faff?

A – Not really, we have found it no more difficult than routing any other internal frames. Just work like you would through any of those – cables come first, before anything else. Route them through from the rear and feed the anti-rattle tubing down through the top ports. Then do the brake hose, followed by the gear cable. Then build the rest of the bike as usual. Once everything is in place except the cranks, you can assemble these and finish the final setup. Easy beans. It can be easiest to fit the bottom bracket centre tube before you put either cup in, it can be quite snug to pop past the cables if you have both a brake hose and gear cable. Once the tube is in place, there is plenty of room.

Q – Can I run a dropper post on my Converge?

A – For sure! It routes the same as our Downshift frame, fully internally through the top edge of the BB shell and out at any port you choose on the down tube.

Q- What’s the tyre clearance on the Converge?

A – The supplied carbon fork is rated to clear 50mm tyres, which it does with a decent bit of room to spare. The frame is designed to clear 45mm tyres, however some tyres measure quite a bit bigger than stated. For example our top pick of gravel tyres the Hutchinson Tundra when inflated on a GR531 rim is 48mm at the widest point. When set up we felt this ran a bit close, so used a 40mm Tundra (44mm!) on the back of the demos. Being ti, there isn’t much to rub through so you could push the clearances if you want, but obviously tyre rub is not a warranty. Try and stick to 45-47mm for safety.

Q – What hanger fits the Converge?

A – It fits a SRAM UDH, this means if you damage your hanger you should be able to pick one up in any good bike shop the world over, neat right?!

Q - Is the Converge compatible with SRAM Transmission groups?

A – Yes, for sure! It’s one of the first metal gravel frames to be fully T-Type/Transmission ready. This means you can either pair a set of AXS shifter/brake units with a T-type mountain bike rear derailleur and wide range cassette or go with one of the new XPLR Transmission groups. At the time of writing this is only Red, however SRAM don’t hang around with this stuff so hopefully the more affordable groups are on the way soon.
